Camping and Camping Gear

June 30th, 2008

A bad clothing decision on your camping trip can spell doom for any ‘happy family’ camping trip. When venturing into the nature for camping trips and treks, everyday wear won’t be enough to protect you or keep you comfortable. Nature isn’t really known to take it easy on those that venture into its extremes.

So for an assuredly enjoyable camping trip, you will want to be fully clothed against the elements. Over the years advances in clothing technology has spawned a lot of camping wear designed to help keep the elements at bay on your camping trips. However, with the jungle of clothing choices, it can get a little confusing to find which wears fit your need.

Clothing that allows water to escape the material, but doesn’t on the other hand, allow water to penetrate is essential to any modern day camper. Ever since man started intentionally developing materials for the comfort of campers and trekker alike, the biggest problem they had to face was how to somehow draw moisture away from the surface of the skin so that the camper did not have to wear wet and soggy clothing that made for bad temperature control. The new clothing had to accomplish this while keeping moisture out.

Audio Book Issues

June 18th, 2008

With the boring and mundane music that is played on the radio these days, many people are turning to audio books to keep them entertained during their long commutes to work. Audio books are an ideal product for people who enjoy reading, but can never find the time to relax because of their busy schedules. Audio books are also great for people who travel frequently and want to enjoy a good book on the way. Options are also available for children to use, making audio books a great travel tool for families.

Coin Collecting Is Great Entertainment

June 18th, 2008

Old money collectors of the paper variety, though not quite as common as coin collectors, still are active and manage to find some rare items from time to time. This variety could include pre US colonial currency, obsolete money from the 1800s, currency from the Confederate States of America, and souvenir cards of old money that’s too rare to actually find and purchase.

One such coin collector’s item in old money is called fractional currency. During and after the Civil War, the United States began to run short on change so started printing paper money worth less than a dollar. 50 cents, 25 cents, 15 cents, 10 cents and 5 cents were all denominations printed because of the lack of coins. They are now much sought after collectibles.

Fly Casting for Different Types of Fish

May 10th, 2008

Did you know there are different approaches to fly casting depending on the type of fish you are fishing for?

Trout fishermen often only use thirty to thirty-five
feet of line, but make up for the short length by focusing on accuracy.
They
try to “read” the water and consistently put the fly where they want
it. They also concentrate on presentation and approach. These factors are often more critical than pattern.

Bass fishing requires a somewhat different approach.
Whether you’re employing a streamer or a surface bug, make sure it
moves
past a spot where a bass is probably going to hold. Timing is
important. The fly won’t be in the right spot if your timing is off.
Double haul
casting becomes essential (a haul takes place when the fly-fisher pulls
on the fly line during the casting stroke). The double haul method
produces line speed. It enables the caster to get additional distance.

Bridal Shower Planning: Keeping it Under Wraps

March 19th, 2008

Why You Should Keep it a Secret

There are two reasons for this. If the bride likes to be on top of things (read as have everything go according to her plan) it will give you some leeway to be creative when planning her bridal shower. Otherwise if she is in to the planning, you will just be puppets doing everything she asks you to ? plus picking up the tab for her outrageously priced cake and party favors. If it is a surprise, you can get away with whatever theme, style and budget you are comfortable with.

On the other hand if your friend or family member, a.k.a the bride is very laid back, she might not even be expecting a bridal shower out of the blue so by planning a surprise bridal shower you will really be making her day. Especially if this is not the first time she is tying the knot or if she has children, she might think no one is bridal shower planning for her. Well, capitalize on her low expectations and really make her glow.

Bridal shower planning should keep the brides likes and dislikes in mind but it shouldn’t be the bride who does everything. She is the guest of honor and guests just arrive and are entertained. So keep it that way. Ask her mother or best friend to let you in on her likes and dislikes in case you are planning the Bridal Shower instead of them. Call her friends in advance and ask them for ideas, but not too many…..

All Terrain Vehicles — Your Way to Off-Road Fun

January 28th, 2008

ATV, which stands for “All-Terrain Vehicles”, are essentially any type of motorized off-road vehicle that is small and open, that is designed primarily for riding off-road. An ATV is constructed for only one operator. Riding an ATV is just like an ordinary motorcycle. However, all-terrain vehicles have extra wheels that provide more stability at slower speeds.

Produced for recreational use, various other models were produced after the release of the three wheeled ATVs. These newer three wheeled ATVs were improved in that they offered large balloon tires without any mechanical suspension. At the beginning of the 1980s the first introduction of models with lower tires that had incorporated a suspension.
